San Antonio Child Photographer | Chelsea Lietz Photography | Girlhood

Being a newborn and child photographer is the job of my dreams. True story.  But staying inspired is crucial to avoiding burnout.  This spring I decided to style a shoot *just for me,* and I chose something I am inspired by in my own life… girlhood!

Since I am blessed with three young daughters, my life is full of pink, sparkles, frilly dresses, twirling, giggles, accessories, and playing dress up.  All things girly and innocent and sweet and fancy!

I styled my models (just regular four and five year old gals willing to come play in front of the camera) in gorgeous dresses from Dollcake Oh So Girly and Tutu Du Monde.  The floral halos are from Honeydrop Designs (formerly So Cuddly Creations) and Created by Carli.

These girls were so much fun!  I wish I’d taken some video of the shoot so that you could hear their sweet giggles!  When one started, it spread like wildflower… even to me.  Girls are such an adventure.

These sessions were shot with my Canon 5d Mark iii and Canon 70-200mm f2.8L IS II. I process my images in Adobe Camera Raw and Photoshop.

These dresses and accessories are available in my studio and are available for use in my Princess Sessions for young girls in the San Antonio area. San Antonio Baby Photographer | Chelsea Lietz Photography Gives Back | Judah

This year I’ve been working on a special project for “deserving families.”  I asked for nominations, chose some families, and even got some extremely generous donations to sponsor additional “deserving” families.  These families all receive a complimentary newborn session and the digital images.  I just photographed the second of the families I will be working with this year, and was once again blown away by their kind hearts, faith, and perseverance.  There are so many GOOD, beautiful people in this world.

Laura and her husband, Brandon, are madly in love and always knew they wanted children. They both came from families with 4 children and were certain that their own family would include 4 offpsring. 8 years ago, they welcomed their first child, a son, without complications. A year or so later, they lost a daughter at 18 weeks and were heartbroken. Soon came another joyful pregnancy- twins!  But in the first trimester, one of the twins miscarried.  And yet, another beautiful daughter was born to them.

They soon had a surprise pregnancy, but Laura spotted throughout and hemorrhaged at 21 weeks.  The baby was alive, but to save Laura they needed to deliver via emergency c section.  Another daughter was born but God called her home. She was buried beside her sister. They still wanted more children and got pregnant again when they were ready… and again… twins!  Yet again one twin did not thrive, but a fourth daughter was born to them.  Still yearning for four children in their arms, Laura miscarried again in her next pregnancy.  But this year, a son was born and Judah makes four!

Laura was nominated for a session by a longtime friend.  Her friend says “Laura has faith and courage and has turned the moments of sorrow in her life into ministry and compassion for others.” Laura shares her story, her heart, her pain and her healing. She organizes events to help others facing similar situations through Project Hope.  Brandon and Laura and their full quiver are touching the lives around them every day.  They cherish their four children and Laura says that they have five angels waiting for them in heaven. Brandon is a pastor and they have planted a new church. (I love this as I am active in a new church seed, myself called Hope Arise)  Laura writes a beautiful blog called Bits of Splendor... I got lost in her words and their brutiful life.

Working with Judah was a true pleasure for me.  He is so sweet and has the most perfect lips and kissable baby toes!  His Mama challenged me with a request for black, gray, and white colors in his session… and I do enjoy a challenge.

San Antonio Bluebonnet Portrait Mini Sessions | Chelsea Lietz Photography

Chelsea Lietz Photography will be offering bluebonnet mini sessions again this year on April 8th and 11th only.

They are open to children 5 months to 12 years only.  No family poses are offered this year. Siblings are welcome, but additional images are not included.

Each session is 15 minutes and your proof gallery will contain 10-15 images for viewing only. The session fee includes 3 high resolution digital images via download with a print release.  You have the option to purchase additional digital images or prints and products.

Payment in full is required to book.  Sessions are $265 plus tax.

The location is still to be announced, but will be around Bulverde, New Braunfels, or North San Antonio.  You will receive an email with location and other details prior to your mini session date.

I reserve the right to reschedule/refund in event of bad weather, personal emergency, or absence of plentiful blooms.

Images may take up to two weeks.

The times are early morning and late evening for prime lighting… please choose a time when your child is generally happy.

April 8th: 6:30pm-7:30pm

April 11th:  7:45am-8:30am, 6:30pm- 7:30pm

San Antonio Newborn Portraits | Chelsea Lietz Photography | Personalized Baby Hats

When clients come to me for newborn portraits, I love when they want a personal touch!  Sometimes this means we include cultural or heirloom items into their photo session.  Sometimes we style a session to coordinate with their baby’s nursery or their home.

One great way to add a personal touch to your newborn photos is to bring along a custom hat personalized with your child’s name.  You can also use a nickname or even a favorite sports team.  I highly recommend Knots for custom hats that fit newborns well.  You can find her on facebook or etsy, just click on the links I’ve provided.  You can even get larger sizes for milestone sessions!

I am happy to include your personal touches in your session.  If you have something in mind, please email me well in advance and I can recommend some of my favorite vendors for newborn items.  Some materials photograph better than others, some sellers do not size for a true newborn, and some sellers just have an overall better quality that I have come to trust.  I am happy to share suggestions with you!  And if you are crafty, feel free to make your own… that adds an extra personal touch because you will always remember creating it as baby kicked and squirmed in your tummy.  🙂   Thank you for choosing Chelsea Lietz Photography for your San Antonio newborn portraits.

New Braunfels Newborn Photographer | Chelsea Lietz Photography Gives Back | Beau

I love being a New Braunfels area newborn photographer and I love giving back.  I recently offered a free newborn session and digital images to a “deserving” family via my facebook page.  Deserving was meant to mean many different things and I love the way it was interpreted. So many wonderful families were nominated that I decided to offer this gift to two families.  And yet I still yearned to give more.  And then First American Commercial Property Group AND a past client of mine pitched in to donate SIX more sessions for deserving families.

The Skelton family was the first in the studio and I loved every minute of it.  They were nominated by the aunt of one of my past clients, and I’m so glad Jenny shared their story with me.  The Skelton’s are parents to six! beautiful children, though one angel awaits them in heaven.  They felt the beautiful call to adopt, Mama homeschools her brood, and Dad serves all of us as a firefighter in New Braunfels.  I love all seven of them to pieces and I’ve only met two of them!

Here is their story in Sarah’s own words…

     “Ever since early in our marriage we knew we would want to adopt.  It was a desire that we know was put on our hearts by God.  We spent years praying and waiting for the right time to pursue adoption.  During that time we were blessed with having four children born to us.  We also suffered two miscarriages.
     Then after ten years of marriage we were introduced very unexpectedly to a little boy who was about seven months old and in need of a home to grow up in.  It wasn’t long before we and our children fell in love with him.  He very quickly and easily fit right in with our family.  He had the sweetest personality and was so handsome.  He was our son.  By God’s grace we were able to adopt our little guy.
      He began having medical difficulties.  We spent time in and out of hospitals finding no real answers.  At one point it seemed as if he was on the rebound as the problems he was having were subsiding.  Just as our hopes for him were up it happened.  We lost him.
      There are no words to describe the pain and confusion of our loss.  We cannot possibly fathom or explain why this happened.  We only know that Gods ways are higher than our own.  There remains an emptiness.  The loss of our precious son has left a profoundly significant void in our family that can never be filled.  Our little guy changed our lives forever during the short time we had him.
     Throughout the rollercoaster that has been the aftermath of this tragedy we still know two things.  God is still sovereign just as he was before, and He still loves us just as unendingly as he did before.  This we know to a certainty.
      We have since suffered through another miscarriage but we now have a brand new little girl.  She was born a bit early with some minor complications but she could not be more perfect.  She is our sweet number six and we are loving her more everyday just as with our five children before.”
